One on One Satisfied Patients

"I have had both knees replaced this year and Melanie was my physical therapist for both of them. She is fantastic, period! My doctor was amazed at my quick recovery each time, and I owe it all to Melanie. When they say One on One they mean it. You get her full attention for the entire duration of your appointment. Melanie motivates you to push yourself to maximize your progress and actually makes it fun while doing it.
She and Katie are a great team. Highly recommended!!

Katie is the best PT you will find. I have worked with Katie for two separate injuries, once for my shoulder and currently for knee pain. I have found Katie to be a good listener, extremely thorough in diagnosing an injury and develops a plan of care with attainable goals. One of the things I appreciate the most is the time she takes in explaining the injury, what is causing it and what needs to be corrected and/or strengthened to get her patients back on track. I would definitely recommend her to any of my family and friends.

"You can't go wrong with Melanie! Not only is she impressively knowledgeable, but she also paid special attention to the specific demands of my sport and worked directly with my trainer to tailor an effective recovery plan. She had me back to training much quicker than I was expecting following my MCL tear. Do your body a favor and let Melanie fix you."
Stacy L.
"I had done something to my back at gym and came in to see one of the therapists here. ONE session people. ONE session and I was right as rain. The best Physio therapists ever."

Nancy L.

"Kaylee is an excellent therapist. She answers all my questions and has an excellent plan for my recovery."

Perry H.

"I injured my back working out some time ago and never bothered trying to figure out what was wrong. I finally gave up on dealing with the pain and the inability to work out. Madison, at Charlotte One on One, has been patient, understanding and incredibly knowledgeable about what I've been doing incorrectly all of these years. It's been about a month now and I am seeing results which are allowing me to get back to the gym without fear of reinjuring myself. I'm looking forward to even more progress."
Thank you.

One on One FAQ's

  • Q. When should I see a Physical Therapist?

    A. If you have pain that interferes with your daily, normal tasks and your ability to

function. If you have loss of strength, range of motion, balance, or endurance

associated with an injury or surgery.

  • Q. What is Physical Therapy and how is it different than other professions?

    A. Physical Therapy is a unique profession that integrates several different types of

treatment approaches for different diagnosis to facilitate the quickest and safest return

to function. By using a comprehensive approach, a physical therapist is able to match

the appropriate treatment for the appropriate patient with the appropriate condition.

Because patients have different goals and no two conditions are exactly alike, our

physical therapists use an individualized evaluation system to meet the needs of each

    patient.

The philosophy is to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY and help patients help themselve. As

patients reach their goals in physical therapy, they are also taught home exercise

programs and are given strategies for preventing additional injuries.

The goals are to relieve pain, restore movement and function, and prevent further injury.

Physical Therapy incorporates pain-easing and anti-inflammatory modalities, BOTH soft

tissue and joint mobilization techniques, exercise prescription, balance and agility

    activities.

  • Q. Who is a Physical Therapist?

    A. A Physical Therapist is someone who has completed 4-6 years of formal education

and residency from a nationally accredited program and is licensed to practice physical

    therapy.

Our physical therapists have completed undergraduate and post-graduate formal

education, residency and fellowship training, and continue to increase their knowledge

to stay on the cutting edge by attending continuing education courses regularly.

  • Q. Do I need a prescription or referral?

         A. North Carolina offers direct access to physical therapy care, meaning, no referral is

necessary. The exception to this is for Medicare participants and specific plans selected

by employers which require a physician referral for Physical Therapy and other specialty

services. We are happy to verify this with your insurance company before beginning

    care.

  • Q. I have a prescription for physical therapy, but it is for a different physical therapy clinic. Can I still come to Charlotte One on One Physical Therapy?

    A. YES! You have the choice and right to go to any physical therapy clinic you choose.

  • Q. How do I know if my insurance will cover physical therapy at Charlotte One on One Physical Therapy?

    A. Charlotte One on One Physical Therapy is in network with most major insurance

companies.  We will be happy to verify your benefits prior to your appointment.

  • Q. What should I expect on my first visit?

    A. Please dress comfortably and arrive 15 minutes early to fill out necessary paperwork.

Your PT sessions will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Q. How do I schedule an appointment?

    A. Appointments are to be scheduled with our front desk, or by calling Charlotte One on

One Physical Therapy at (980) 237-2302.  After your initial appointment and a treatment

plan is determined, we will typically schedule your follow-up appointments at check out.

  • Q. What should I do if I am unable to keep my appointment?

    A. We ask that you please cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance as a courtesy

to other patients.  In order to accommodate each patient’s schedule, reserving time

slots is important in providing high quality, one on one care.  Canceling an appointment

at the last minute, or even the same day limits our ability to meet the needs of other

patients.  Please be aware that you will be charged $50 for a no-show or cancellation

with less than 24 hours notice.

One on One Tips

Advice, recommendations, information
running while pregnant Charlotte One On One PT

Is it safe to run while pregnant and do you have to limit your workout intensity as your pregnancy progresses?
By Sarah DoBroka Cooley - One on One PT - Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist 20 Sep, 2019
At the beginning of every season, legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden would begin with, “Men, this is how you put your shoes and socks on.” Even returning players were forced to sit through the speech and relearn the concept year after year. Wooden’s point…small things matter. A wrinkle in your sock could cause a blister and keep you from practicing at your best. School season is about to begin, which means new backpacks to purchase. If you are a parent of a rising kindergartner, welcome to the team! If this will be your 5th, 10th, or 15th backpack purchase, welcome back and enjoy the review. Protecting the back of your high school kid is just as important as protecting the back of your elementary school kid. Here are some tips for proper backpack fitting and packing: A backpack should be no wider or longer than a child’s torso and should never hang lower than 4 inches below the waist. A child should carry no more than 10% of their bodyweight in the backpack. Heavier items should be placed in the center. Children should use both straps to evenly distribute the weight. Straps should be wide and padded to avoid interference with circulation. Tighten straps so the backpack fits close to the body. A chest or waist strap can also help evenly distribute weight. Pick a backpack with multiple compartments to help with load distribution. Choose a fun color or design! Considering these tips as you purchase a new backpack will help reduce overload of your kid’s developing spine. If you have further questions regarding the fitting or packing of your child’s backpack, or if your child is experiencing any pain as a result of wearing a backpack, contact me at sarah@charlotteoneononept.com.
